Student Overlay Confusion

I'm telling you the truth, I swear
I have received several emails, as well as comments in my original post about the Student Overlay, stating that they were unable to obtain it. I am not sure why it would seem that many CSR's don't know about this, as well as dealers, and the only explanation that I can provide are that there are a lot of promos out there and this isn't the most prevalent (I don't know why it's not more prevalent - it's a great deal). My advice would be to bring your student ID to a dealer and have them call it in. Even if they don't know about it, tell them to call their dealer line, and specifically ask them to "add my school's MSD code". Memorize that sentence, and make sure to say it word for word.

Trust me.

  1. Hi could this possible plan combination work:

$25 Student Plan with Student Overlay +
    $30 Smartphone Data Value Pack

Im new to Canada and want to start a 3yr contract with Rogers with voice and data plan for my xperia.

    Any input would be appreciated.

  2. And you are positive that there is no possibility of getting it applied to a retention plan?

  3. To go along with this, the Rogers website lists that under student plans you get -$5 if you have a $15 VP. Does this also apply if you don't have a student plan but are a student?

  5. Okay, I always ring Rogers for this type of stuff and I had no problems getting this overlay. I'm well past 19 but I am a student so spena I would call Rogers, just give them your university id number and they'll put you on it straight away.

  7. Yes, Shawn. That's possible. I'm also new to Canada and took up the exact same combination for my N95 8gb.
    Cheers.
